It’s 2025. Today we have demonstrated that ROSE Enterprise Digital Twin technology can be applied across all types of large-scale businesses and with exceptional results. We have the technology, the experience, the methodology, and the intellectual property. How did we get here?
The science of complexity was born at the Santa Fe Institute (SFI) in 1984. From the beginning, it seemed enigmatic and challenging to us, and it has always been a beacon on UGROUND’s path. The 21st century created the challenges of complexity and cybernetic systems, which is where we work.
UGROUND was founded in 2002 to work on Rapid Application Development (RAD) technologies. Our goal was to create new technologies to provide companies with customized solutions that were developed at high speed and highly scalable. RAD technologies are based on very extensive configuration systems, and we learned a lot about applications based on this technique.
In 2011, we used our RAD technology to enter the field of Model-Based Engineering (MDE), and we did so with a fresh approach: conventional models are two-dimensional and generate code. We focused on making multidimensional models and real-time model interpreters. The result is that we learned how to model business knowledge to create applications of all kinds with a common platform.
In 2017, we patented our engineering approach in the United States (USPTO), which gave rise to ROSE, or Recursive Ontology-based Systems Engineering. This patent describes how to make models of any dimension, based on semantics. A long description for a very concrete result: industrializing the production of large systems while avoiding the tedious writing of software. At this point, we coined the term Semantic Engineering to describe a new way of creating information systems, as an alternative to coding.
Starting in 2017, we began scaling up to large management models: how to use our technology as the backbone of large digital transformation projects that integrate all types of IT solutions on the market. This led to the conception of ROSE as a Digital Twin of Enterprises (ROSE DTE) platform, with cross-cutting and universal application, which also incorporates consulting for innovation and self-sustaining digital transformation.
Today, our challenges are the integration of Artificial Intelligence in all stages of modeling, in the implementation of models, and the scaling of UGROUND to new markets.
